What happens in Cliniko when someone cancels?

• Filling it is a job with five steps and no spare minute. Notice the cancellation. Work out who'd actually take a 4:15 this afternoon. Ring the first person, get voicemail, ring the next. All of it from a front desk that's also greeting patients, taking payments and answering the phone. The chase loses to the counter every time, not because anyone is slack, but because the counter is the job.
• A clinic hour doesn't keep. Stock that doesn't sell today sells tomorrow. A Tuesday 4:15 that goes unfilled is just gone, and the practitioner was paid for it either way. Three of those a week at a $105 consult is around $1,300 a month, quietly, forever. Run your own numbers in the calculator.
• Sometimes it's the last you see of them. A cancellation that never gets rebooked isn't always one lost appointment. For the patient partway through a care plan, it can be the day they quietly drop off, and the rest of their course of care goes with them.

Same Tuesday. The cancellation lands at 9:40, and by 9:42 the patients who said they'd take an earlier time have the offer in their hand, in your wording, with a way to claim it that doesn't need a phone call back. First yes takes the slot. The desk never stopped doing its actual job, and by 10:15 this afternoon's 4:15 is a booking again.
